KRC Genk’s dynamic winger, Christopher Bonsu Baah, unveiled a chapter of his football journey, disclosing that he underwent a trial with Manchester United before eventually signing with Sarpsborg 08 in March last year.

The 18-year-old Ghanaian talent shared pivotal insights into his early experiences, stating, “At the age of 14, I was allowed to go to an academy, the Shooting Stars, in Accra, and two years later, an agent brought me to Spain.” The Ghanaian talent elaborated on his trials at prominent clubs, stating, “I was allowed to trial everywhere: at Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, Manchester United… But because I was not yet 18, I couldn’t get a professional contract. It’s good that I have a lot of patience.”

Despite not securing a deal with these clubs, Bonsu Baah found success at Sarpsborg 08, catching the eye of KRC Genk. The Belgian club made a significant investment of €5.2 million to acquire his services, recognizing his potential and impact on the field.

Predominantly playing on the right, Bonsu Baah quickly adapted to Genk’s setup. In the ongoing Jupiler Pro League season, he has made 14 appearances, including a crucial goal, showcasing his rapid development and contribution to the team.

Expressing gratitude for his journey, Bonsu Baah stated, “The fact that I can now also play here is the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life.” While the current status of Manchester United’s interest remains uncertain, the winger’s continuous growth suggests that other top European clubs may soon enter the race for his signature.
