Deputy Sports Minister, Evans Bobie Opoku, revealed that he is not privy to the plans of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) regarding the Black Stars’ training location for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
With just 37 days left until the prestigious tournament kicks off in Ivory Coast, the deputy minister stated that the GFA has not communicated any information to the Sports Ministry.
Ghana, eyeing their fifth AFCON title, is gearing up for the competition where they are placed in Group B alongside Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.
Despite the impending tournament, Opoku emphasized that the ministry awaits official information from the GFA before making any announcements about the Black Stars’ pre-AFCON training camp.
“ Nothing has come before the Sports Ministry concerning where Ghana will pitch camp ahead of AFCON 2023. When we get such an information, we will interrogate it and let the people of Ghana know,” he said to Citi Sports.
The tournament is scheduled to commence on January 14, 2024, with Ghana facing Cape Verde in their opening match.
