In anticipation of the clash on Thursday, January 18, at 20:00 GMT, Egypt’s strategist Rui Vitoria boldly embraces the challenge of confronting the dynamic force that is Mohammed Kudus.

At a pre-game press conference, Victoria, with unwavering confidence, expressed his eagerness for his team to go head-to-head with the exceptionally talented West Ham United midfielder. His words reflected the gravity of the impending battle.

Victoria outlined a meticulous strategy for his squad, emphasizing the necessity of thorough preparation to navigate the formidable skills possessed by Kudus. Aware of the Ghanaian’s prowess in the English Premier League, Victoria left no room for doubt about the rigorous preparation required to counter his influence.

Both Egypt and Ghana, burdened by opening-game struggles—Ghana falling to a 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde, and Egypt held to a tense 2-2 draw with Mozambique—enter the showdown with a palpable sense of urgency. The stakes are undeniably high for these football powerhouses.

Reflecting on Kudus’ significance, Victoria acknowledged, “I think it’s good for the tournament that the best players play all the games. For me, he’s a fantastic player, he’s doing well in the English Premier League. I am ready to face that kind of player; we are ready for that; we will prepare the team for that.”

Highlighting the broader challenge, he added, “We will have to control him but not only him because the Ghana team is a very good team and all the players are good.” Victoria’s words set the stage for a tactical battle of wits, promising a riveting encounter between two football giants.
