Following the exhilarating conclusion of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire 2023, the Confédération Africaine de Football’s Technical Study Group (TSG) unveils the tournament’s standout performers in the Best XI lineup.

Culminating in a thrilling victory for hosts Cote d’Ivoire against Nigeria, hailed as one of the greatest comebacks in AFCON history, the tournament showcased remarkable talent and fierce competition.

The TSG meticulously tracked and analyzed the tournament’s progress, resulting in the recognition of outstanding players across various nations.

Among the honorees, hosts Cote d’Ivoire claim three spots in the Best XI, including Ghislan Konan, Jean Michael Seri, and Franck Kessie, whose pivotal goal in the final secured the title.

Runner-up Nigeria also commands three positions with Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong, and Ademola Lookman earning well-deserved spots.

Surprising contenders South Africa, securing a commendable third-place finish, contribute goalkeeper Ronwen Williams and Teboho Mokoena to the prestigious lineup. Williams notably made history with a remarkable penalty-saving performance during the competition.

Additionally, DR Congo’s Yoane Wissa and Chancel Mbemba, representing the fourth-place team, showcase their prowess in the Best XI lineup.

The Best XI:

In goal, Ronwen Williams (South Africa) stands tall, while defensive stalwarts Ola Aina (Nigeria), Ghislan Konan (Cote d’Ivoire), William Troost-Ekong (Nigeria), and Chancel Mbemba (DR Congo) fortify the backline.

Midfield brilliance emanates from Teboho Mokoena (South Africa), Jean Michael Seri (Cote d’Ivoire), and Franck Kessie.

The attacking force comprises the dynamic duo of Yoane Wissa (DR Congo) and Ademola Lookman (Nigeria), supported by Equatorial Guinea’s Emilio Nsue, whose prolific goal-scoring prowess dazzled throughout the tournament. Nsue clinched the top scorer title despite his team’s early exit from the competition.
