On the United Showbiz with MzGee, Samuel Inkoom, former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars workaholic defender advised Ghanaians that it is everyone’s duty and responsibility to help develop the nation.
“We all have responsibilities in developing the nation. If we are being honest with ourselves, are we happy with what is transpiring in Ghana’s football?”, quizzed Samuel Inkoom.
The former Basel right-back lamented Ghana’s inability to even provide ordinary pitches to play football.
“We even don’t have common pitches, watching the Ghana Premier League on television is sad”, added Inkoom.
Adepa TV on Startimes has been broadcasting the Ghana Premier League live but the quality of pitches and the state of the venues make it very unattractive.
“We have to focus on colts, inter-schools.
“We have to put more effort into the youth football”, said Inkoom.
Samuel Inkoom, 34, urged the GFA and the Sports Ministry to place much emphasis on Colts football, inter-school competitions and juvenile football as it is where most of the top Ghanaian footballers were discovered.
Samuel Inkoom revealed how attractive and lucrative the senior national team is.
“The Black Stars is a lucrative avenue- you get enough sponsorships.
Samuel Inkoom did not agree with some Ghanaians calling for the dissolution of the current GFA led by Kurt Okraku.
“Dissolving the FA is not the solution but they should listen to advice and contributions from Ghanaians because we all want the best for Ghana,”.
Inkoom called for the inclusion of ex-Ghanaian footballers in the administration of Ghana’s football.
“Ex-Black Stars players must be given a platform in the team to contribute”, added Samuel Inkoom.
Samuel Inkoom was an integral part of Ghana’s team that dazzled in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He won the CAF U20 Nations Cup, and FIFA U20 World Cup in 2009 for Ghana and also finished as a runner-up in the 2010 AFCON in Angola for Black Stars.
