AFCON 2023 made everyone forget that there are even two rounds of games to be played in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup.

Africa’s most prestigious club competition bounced back on Friday with Belouizdad hosting the defending champions Al Ahly of Cairo in Algiers. It was an outstanding game which was not played due to Al Ahly’s commitment to the FIFA Club World Cup.

The game ended 0-0 with Belouizdad squandering so many scoring opportunities. Group D is now wide open as all 4 teams’s destinies are in their own hands.

Speaking after the game, the Red Devils head coach Marcel Koller sent a strong warning to Medeama and Young Africans.

“We have two finals left against Medeama and Yanga SC. We will play those games like never before,” said Marcel Koller.

The most successful club on the continent’s warning must always be taken seriously because they know how to win.

Al Ahly will travel to Kumasi to face the minnows Medeama SC on 24th February then host Yanga in MD6 of the competition. Whoever wins will have a great chance of qualifying.

Group D has been so tight to the extent that every point is so important.
