In a significant development, Professor Peter Twumasi, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has been relieved of his duties.
His departure sees Mr. Dodzie Numekevor stepping into the role in an acting capacity until a permanent appointment is made.
The appointment of Mr. Numekevor, sanctioned by Secretary to the President Nana Bediatuo Asante on February 26, 2024, grants him 14 days to accept the interim position.
Rumors of Prof. Twumasi’s impending dismissal surfaced approximately two weeks ago, with Sportsworldghana initially reporting on the matter.
Following an invitation to the Jubilee House to address various concerns, Prof. Twumasi made efforts to plead his case for leniency. However, it appears that he was unable to sway the appointing authority, as his termination was communicated to the board in a recent communique.
Prof. Twumasi assumed the role of Director General of the NSA on December 10, 2019, succeeding Robert Sarfo Mensah, who resigned amid allegations arising from the ‘Number 12’ exposé by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger Eye PI.
