Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has emerged as a prominent figure eyeing the vacant Parliamentary seat in Ejisu.
Addressing journalists in Kumasi over the weekend, Nyantakyi expressed his intention to potentially contest the by-election pending the announcement of the timetable.
“The Ejisu by-election will definitely come on, but the timetable has not been published yet so we don’t know those who want to contest. Since I come from there and I have the right to contest, at the right time, we’ll see what will happen,” Kwesi Nyantakyi said
He further emphasized the need for respect and reflection in light of the recent passing of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, John Kumah, noting that the loss has deeply impacted the community.
“But at the moment, we are mourning the demise of a very dear son of the constituency. The Member of Parliament is a big loss to the constituency and let’s see what happens after the one week.”
The vacancy in the Ejisu Parliamentary seat arose following the passing of Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah, prompting the Electoral Commission to prepare for a by-election to fill the position in the near future.
