Benjamin Azamati holds the 100m record for Ghana with a time of 9.90s.
Azamati Benjamin made history in March 2021 by breaking a 22-year-old national record held by Leo Myles Mills in Texas by clocking 9.97 seconds to qualify for the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
In the 2024 Paris Olympics Games, Benjamin Azamati will represent Ghana once again after helping the nation to qualify in the 4X100 Metres Relay in the Bahamas on Sunday night.
In an interview with Joysports Fentuo Tahiru, the speedster thanked the almighty God above for the wonderful talent he has given him.
“It’s awesome. We thank God for the gift of this talent and we thank Ghana for being behind us, letting us do what we do. They supported us coming here so we’re just thankful to God and we’ve been able to go to the Olympics twice,” said the 26-year-old Azamati.
The former Presbyterian Boys Senior High School graduate thanked Ghanaians also for their wonderful support to the relay team.
The Akim Oda born is ready to deliver in Paris in August 2024 in the imminent Olympic Games.
