Morocco won the bid to host the 2025 AFCON at the expense of a joint bid from Nigeria and Benin with Algeria officially withdrawing theirs.
The exact date for the 2025 AFCON has been a huge problem for CAF recently.
Initially, the Confederation of African Football chose to host it in the 2025 summer but the tournament was going to clash with the newly expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to be played in the USA and hence a new date needed to be fixed.
In shocking news on Monday, CAF has decided to host the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in December 2025.
Per reports from Egyptian journalist H. Amir, on his +90 Sports Show, CAF has ditched their initial plans of hosting the tournament in July 2025 for December 2025.
It will be quite new to African football fans as they are used to enjoying the AFCON in January-February although the 2019 version was played in June and July.
