1. Samartex so close to the promised land

At the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samraboi, league leaders Samartex thrashed Tano Bofoakwa to regain their seven-point lead. The venue has been the most fearful place to visit in Ghana in the last 9 months with the Timber Giants winning 14 of the 15 games played there. When the season ends, Samartex must organise a party to honour the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samraboi. The 3-0 thrashing of Bofoakwa Tano has sent Samartex ever closer to the promised land. They need 6 points from the last twelve to lift the GPL.

2. Afriyie Mezack’s thumping header sinks Porcupine Warriors

Samuel Boadu’s celebration after Afriyie Mezack’s late header shows how important the win was to him. He pointed his two hands to the sky thanking his God for the three points. It was a nice moment for Samuel Baodu as his boys helped him walk the talk. The former Hearts of Oak head coach promised Chelsea fans a win over Asante Kotoko and his lads duly did the business. Afriyie Mezack deserves credit for that thumping header that gave the Bibire the victory over the Porcupine Warriors.

3. Accra Hearts of Oak has 99 problems to solve

Probably the most troubled season for Hearts of Oak in their history. The season has been so appalling for the Phobia fraternity after a series of troubles. Three coaches have handled the club, they have used three venues, players have not stepped up, so many inconsistencies in terms of performance, and fans have staged a mini demonstration against the leadership of the team among so many issues. Phobias problems are simply uncountable. On Sunday afternoon, Phobia lost to Aduana Stars 1-0 with the team putting up one of the horrible shows of the season. Fans are very worried about how the 99 problems will be solved before the commencement of next season in September.

4. Bashir Hayford’s super work on Heart of Lions is incredible

The GPL table has Heart of Lions sitting 14th on it. This is so unbelievable after many struggles and poor performances. Heart of Lions at some point didn’t even believe they were going to win a single game in the season. The 2-1 win in Dawu over Dreams has moved them out of the relegation zone. Probably they have the toughest fixtures in the final four games, they will host Samartex and Legon Cities and travel to Medeama and Berekum Chelsea. The aim of surviving is not complete yet but Bashir Hayford has done very well for Heart of Lions.

5. Accra Great Olympics needs a miracle to survive

Oly Dade is finally in the relegation zone after a 2-1 defeat against Legon Cities on Saturday. Accra Great Olympics has lost 4 and drawn 2 in the last 6 GPL games. Their last win was a 4-2 victory over Aduana Stars on 24th March. The Accra Great Olympics squad has lost the will and desire to play. They have lost momentum as well so it is not surprising to see them falling freely. It is only a miracle that can save Accra Great Olympics because they refused to play well and win.

6. Nations FC bounce back to winning ways

Nations FC won for the first time in six games after Barimah Baah’s solitary strike against Accra Lions on Friday. They reduced the points gap to 4 but Samartex extended it to seven on Sunday with a 3-0 evisceration of Bofoakwa Tano. Their chances of winning the league are just 5% now after enduring a disastrous  April and May. The win was so good and refreshing for them after the unbelievable struggles.
