Sammy Anim Addo, a former Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has praised the efforts of Black Starlets head coach, Laryea Kingston.
Addo believes that Kingston, a former Ghana international, is assembling a squad capable of making history and representing Ghana at the highest levels of football.
The Ghana U-17 team has progressed to the semifinal stage of the ongoing WAFU B Cup of Nations qualifiers. They achieved this by defeating both Cote d’Ivoire and Benin to claim the top spot in Group A.
After closely observing both of their matches, Anim Addo is confident in the team’s potential for future success. He predicts that if they maintain their current trajectory, the Black Starlets could eventually become a dominant force in international football.
“He (Laryea Kingston) is really building these boys for the future and these boys would be able to fit in any team in the world if they continue with what they are doing because the systems, the game plan, game management and the mental toughness as well as the confidence on the pitch is there,” he said in an interview with Joy Sports
“I can see a great future in these boys. I wouldn’t be surprised and some of us want us to break that jinx where a boy can leave here straight and go to a team in Europe and get a chance.
“These boys can fit into any system and at the same time, they will grow to become great assets to the nation, from here to U20, to U23 and the Black Stars so I am happy to see what he’s doing.”
Ghana will face the second-place team in the next stage of the comeptition.
