Nigeria sits third in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with just two points. Only two points are separating them and the table toppers Rwanda.
Under Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles drew 1-1 against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in MD1 and 3 respectively making it a very horrible start.
In June, under new head coach Finidi George, Nigeria will play two games against South Africa and Benin and these two games are must-win games.
Speaking ahead of the game, the much-experienced Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has admitted that the team is under pressure.
“Where we are at the moment gives us more pressure, because these games are must-win games. I’m not saying we will win the game but I’m saying they are must-win games,” Ndidi said, according to SportsBrief.
“We don’t know what’s going to happen but it all bores down to us as a team because we know what is at hand and then we know we have to get as much as we can in these two games just to go up there,” added Ndidi.
Nigeria’s permutations are simple even though it’s too early; they have to beat South Africa and Benin to avoid future struggles and calculations in the qualifiers.
Finidi George is yet to name his squad for the two games but Nigerians are expecting it by Wednesday 29th May.
