The Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers features West Bromwich Albion striker Brandon Thomas-Asante and Cagliari midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana as new additions.
The players received their debut call-ups from coach Otto Addo due to their impressive form at the club level during the 2023/2024 season.
As part of team tradition, the newcomers underwent their initiation rituals over the weekend, bringing humor and camaraderie to the camp. The Black Stars’ initiation custom involves players sharing brief information about themselves and entertaining teammates and officials with a dance.
This practice aims to ensure the smooth integration of new players and bolster team unity and morale. Thomas-Asante’s dance was particularly amusing, combining Michael Jackson’s moves with afro-dance skills, prompting a teammate to exclaim, “Michael Jackson!”
In contrast, the more reserved Sulemana opted for one-legged dances, entertaining his teammates and the technical staff.
Both players are part of the 26-man squad currently in camp, preparing for the World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic on June 6 and June 10, respectively.
