Jordan Ayew’s goal against Mali in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers equaled his older brother Andre Ayew’s goal record for the Black Stars.
The Crystal Palace striker scored a late winner as the Black Stars came from behind to shock the best-ranked team in Group I, Mali, on Thursday night.
This crucial strike was his 24th goal since making his debut for the West African powerhouse in September 2010.
Andre Ayew, the current captain of the national team, has also amassed 24 goals in 114 appearances since his debut in August 2007. His younger brother needed 101 games to hit 24 goals for the four-time African champions.
Meanwhile, their father, Abedi Pele, scored 19 goals in 73 games during his playing days for the Black Stars.
Jordan Ayew will be hoping to continue his goalscoring form when the Black Stars take on the Central African Republic in matchday four of the qualifiers.
The much-anticipated game will be played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday at 7 pm.
