Asante Kotoko have reached an agreement with Berekum Chelsea to sign left-back Patrick Asiedu, according to reports.

The 21-year-old is one of the best left-backs in the Ghana Premier League and has impressed with his performances for Chelsea, which has caught the eye of Asante Kotoko’s technical team led by Dr Prosper Ogum.

Asiedu is set to join the Porcupines on a three-year contract, pending a medical and agreeing personal terms. The deal is now so far along it’s almost inevitable, with sources indicating that he is expected to agree on personal terms with Kotoko in the coming days.

The 21-year-old featured 23 times for Berekum Chelsea last season, registering an assist, and is seen as a valuable addition to Kotoko’s squad. He will compete with Sudan’s Esmat Abdulhamid for the left-back position in the upcoming season.

Should the deal go through, Asiedu will join the likes of Abdulhamid in fighting for a starting spot at Kotoko, and is expected to be an important part of the team’s plans for the new season.
