Lamine Yamal, a Spanish professional soccer player, is making headlines around the world for his spectacular performance as part of Spain’s EURO 2024 team.

Biography

Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana, born on July 13, 2007, is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a right-back for La Liga team Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

Full Name: Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana
Date of Birth: July 13, 2007
Age: 16 years old
Occupation: Footballer
Net Worth: $2.14 million

Early Life

Lamine Yamal was born in Esplugues de Llobregat, Catalonia, to a Moroccan father and an Equatoguinean mother. He spent his early years in Granollers and Mataró. At seven, his family moved to Barcelona, where he began training at FC Barcelona’s youth academy.

Who are Lamine Yamal’s Mother and Father?

Lamine Yamal is the son of Mounir Nasraoui, who immigrated to Spain from Morocco, and Sheila Ebana, who immigrated to Spain from Equatorial Guinea, according to The Athletic. Although his parents separated when he was three years old, they co-parented Yamal together.

In a conversation with Spanish-language media, Nasraoui expressed deep pride in his son’s accomplishments. “I knew my son was going to be a star from the moment he was born. Any father wants his child to be the best, not just in football but in all aspects of life,” he said. “He is blessed by God, which is very important and must be valued.”

Club Career

Youth Development:
Lamine progressed through La Masia, becoming one of its top prospects. Despite being younger than typical for the Juvenile A squad, his talent shone through. In September 2022, he began training with Barcelona’s first team, catching the eye of coach Xavi.

First Team Breakthrough (2023–24):
Lamine made his senior team debut on April 29, 2023, in a 4–0 win against Real Betis, becoming the fifth-youngest player in La Liga history. He secured his first title with Barcelona as part of the squad that won the 2022–23 La Liga. On August 20, 2023, he became Barcelona’s youngest starter in La Liga, and his performances quickly earned him recognition, including the inaugural U23 Player of the Month award for August.

Champions League and Contract Extension:
Lamine made his Champions League debut on September 19, 2023, in a 5–0 win against Antwerp. On October 2, 2023, he signed a contract extension with Barcelona until 2026, with a buyout clause of €1 billion. He became the youngest player to start a Champions League match in October 2023.

Record-Breaking Performances:
On October 8, 2023, Lamine became the youngest player to score for Barcelona in La Liga. He continued to break records throughout the season, including becoming the youngest scorer in the Supercopa de España and the Copa del Rey.

International Career

Youth:
Lamine captained Catalonia’s youth teams and represented Spain at various youth levels, including the U17 European Championship in 2023.

Senior:
At 16 years old, Lamine received his first senior call-up in September 2023 and debuted by scoring in a 7–1 victory against Georgia, becoming Spain’s youngest player and goalscorer. He was selected for UEFA Euro 2024, where he set multiple records, including becoming the youngest player to feature and assist in the tournament. He played a crucial role in Spain’s journey to victory, earning the UEFA EURO 2024 Young Player of the Tournament award.
