Bantama FC triumphed over Amakom FC with a 3-2 victory to win the 2024 MTN AshantiFest Community Football Tournament, which concluded on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the Dechemso Otumfuo Park.

The thrilling finale treated soccer enthusiasts to a spectacular display of skill and excitement, culminating in a five-goal showdown. Bantama FC, the hot favorites, narrowly defeated Amakom FC, earning a reward of GHC20,000, the championship trophy, and gold medals. Amakom FC, the runners-up, received GHC10,000 and silver medals.

In the third-place playoff, Ejisu FC overcame Adoato FC 4-3 in a penalty shootout. Ejisu FC secured GHC5,000 and bronze medals, while Adoato FC took home GHC3,000.

Emmanuel Sarpong, also known as Agogo from Bantama FC, was named Best Player and Goal King, outshining challengers George Antwi (Henry) and Marvin Owusu from Amakom FC. Bantama’s goalkeeper, Kwadwo Nimako, was honored as the Best Goalkeeper, while Kennedy Kofi Mensah of Amakom FC received the Best Defender award. Amakom’s Nana Kwame, nicknamed “La Liga,” was recognized as the Most Promising Player of the tournament.

MTN, the tournament organizers, expressed gratitude to the chiefs and residents of the participating communities for their support in making the event a success. Germain Nartey, MTN’s Senior Manager of Brands and Communication, commended the teams for their professionalism and competitive spirit.

“The level of competition has improved compared to last year, and we look forward to hosting an even bigger tournament next year,” Nartey remarked. He emphasized MTN’s commitment to sports development in the country, noting that AshantiFest serves as a means of giving back to society and engaging loyal customers in the region.
