Former Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah, is reportedly in a stable condition and gradually recuperating after being poisoned at a friend’s party in Tarkwa over the weekend.
According to Wontumi Sports Presenter, Kwame Dela Fishbone, the astute football administrator suffered the unfortunate incident while attending a friend’s party in Tarkwa.
Dela shared the news on Wontumi TV, stating that Nana Yaw Amponsah was expected to depart Ghana on Wednesday for business purposes but was instead admitted to a hospital due to his condition.
The presenter revealed that Nana Yaw Amponsah failed to disclose the exact health facility he was admitted to, adding that no news of any suspect has emerged after reaching out to his camp. As a result, the exact circumstances surrounding the poisoning remain unclear.
Nana Yaw Amponsah served as the CEO of Asante Kotoko from August 2020 to August 2023, during which time the club won their record 24th league title in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
He also took on the same role with Moldovan top-flight side FC Petrocub Hincesti in January 2024 but left after six months in July of that year.
