“I will be shocked if Asante Kotoko do not win the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title” – Opoku Nti

Former Asante Kotoko player and General Manager, Samuel Opoku Nti, has expressed his utmost satisfaction with the club’s recent recruitment, stating that he will be “shocked” if they don’t win the Ghana Premier League next season.

Opoku Nti, whose goal won Kotoko their last CAF Champions League title in 1983, praised the team’s new additions, saying that they have the right mix of individual talent and teamwork.

He believes that the current squad has the potential to dominate the league and that their rivals will be hard-pressed to keep up.

“I will be shocked if they (Kotoko) don’t win the league, given the team they have assembled.

“These days, both individual talent and teamwork are crucial, sometimes the coach doesn’t need to give orders, in those situations, you need players who are mature enough to step up and support the team when called upon, and I think that’s what the current Kokoko team has.

“The additions Kotoko has made makes me extremely happy, and if this pattern keeps up, it will be a turning point.

“Considering Kotoko’s rivals, I’d be shocked if Kotoko do not win the league.”

The Porcupine Warriors have undergone a significant overhaul after a disappointing season, parting ways with over 20 players. However, they have already made eleven new signings and are looking to build a formidable team ahead of the new campaign.

Opoku Nti’s comments come as the team continues their preseason preparations, which have taken them to Cape Coast for training sessions.

They will face Medeama SC in a ceremonial friendly match this Friday, August 16, at the new TNA Stadium.
