Ghanaian defender Nicholas Opoku has expressed his excitement after completing a move to Turkish Super Lig side Kasimpasa SK.
The 27-year-old signed a two-year contract with the Istanbul-based club as a free agent, following his departure from French Ligue 2 team Amiens SC.
Opoku made an immediate impact, debuting for Kasimpasa in their 1-1 draw against Hatayspor on Monday evening.
He played 82 minutes and helped his team maintain a 1-0 lead through a goal by Joelson Fernandes, before Hatayspor equalized in the 91st minute.
“New chapter, new home, Kasimpasa,” Opoku wrote on social media, expressing his enthusiasm for the new phase of his career in Turkey’s top-flight league.
Opoku’s strong debut performance has already made a positive impression, and he will join his teammates in training this week as Kasimpasa looks to build on their early-season form.
Opoku’s career began in Ghana with Berekum Chelsea in the Premier League before he moved to Tunisia to play for Club Africain. His impressive performances earned him a transfer to Italy’s Udinese in Serie A, and after a year, he joined Amiens in France.
