Ghanaian defender Nicholas Opoku has expressed his excitement after making a move to the Turkish Super Lig, joining Kasimpasa SK. The 27-year-old defender signed a two-year contract with Kasimpasa as a free agent following his departure from the French club, Amiens.
Opoku wasted no time settling in, as he was handed his debut in a match against Hatayspor, where he played for 82 minutes in a 1-1 draw on Monday evening. Reflecting on his new journey, Opoku shared his enthusiasm, stating, “New chapter, new home, Kasimpasa,” as he embarked on his career in Turkey’s topflight league.
During his debut, Opoku delivered an impressive performance, helping his team take a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Joelson Fernandes. Unfortunately, Kasimpasa couldn’t hold on to the lead, as Hatayspor equalized in the 91st minute with a goal from Nuno Da Costa.
Looking ahead, Opoku will join his teammates in training this week as they prepare for what they hope will be a successful season in the Turkish Super Lig.
Opoku’s career began with Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea, before he moved to Tunisia to play for Club Africain. From there, he ventured to Italy, joining Udinese, and later moved to France for a stint with Amiens before making his latest move to Turkey.
