Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has announced that the buses promised to top-performing clubs in the Division One League and Women’s Premier League have arrived in the country.
These buses are intended as rewards for clubs that excelled in the previous season, as per Okraku’s earlier commitment.
Speaking at the 30th Ordinary Congress of the GFA, Okraku revealed that the first batch of 13 buses is currently at the port, awaiting clearance before being distributed to the deserving clubs. He emphasized the need for government assistance in expediting the clearance process.
“In Kumasi, I spoke about our new bus acquisition strategy, and just as I promised, the first 13 buses have arrived in Ghana. We’ve encountered challenges in clearing these buses from the port,” Okraku stated. “We’ve sought support from the government, and we hope it will come through. Our promise remains the same: we will deliver the buses to our nine Division 1 clubs and our four Women’s Premier League clubs very soon.”
Okraku also mentioned that the GFA plans to offer additional buses in the upcoming season. “So, in the coming season, we will again offer five buses: three to the Division 1 League and two to the Women’s Premier League as part of the prizes,” he added.
The initiative is part of the GFA’s broader strategy to support and incentivize the growth of football across all levels in the country.
