2024/25 Ghana Premier League Preview: Aduana Stars aim for strong start against Heart of Lions at Dormaa

Aduana Stars will welcome Kpando-based Heart of Lions to the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday, September 8, 2024, for their matchday one encounter of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

The Ogya Boys, fresh off a solid season, are determined to kick off their campaign with a win and continue their dominance over Heart of Lions, having triumphed in seven of their last eight meetings.

Aduana Stars Eyeing Title Chase

Aduana Stars, twice champions of the Ghana Premier League, finished in the top half of the table last season and have set their sights on reclaiming the title in 2024/25. The club has been busy bolstering its squad, with notable additions such as Seidu Saana, who will be a key figure for the team in the new campaign.

With a solid pre-season that included a victory over Wamanfo Mighty Royals in their final friendly match, Aduana Stars are in prime form to kick off the season on the right note. Playing in front of their home crowd at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park, the Ogya Boys will aim to capitalize on their impressive home record.

Heart of Lions: Survival and Strengthening

Heart of Lions narrowly escaped relegation last season, securing their spot in the top flight after a crucial final-day draw against Berekum Chelsea. As they head into the new season, they have made several experienced signings to avoid another close call with the drop.

Key additions for the Kpando side include former Ghana Premier League top scorer Abednego Tetteh, along with ex-Hearts of Oak striker Kwadwo Obeng Junior, and midfielder Mitchelle Sarpong. These experienced players are expected to provide leadership and firepower as the club looks to improve on their previous campaign.

Heart of Lions wrapped up their pre-season preparations with a confidence-boosting friendly win over Home Stars, signaling their intent to challenge Aduana Stars and make a statement early in the season.

Key Battle

The clash at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams eager to start their campaigns positively. Aduana Stars will rely on their home advantage and recent dominance over Heart of Lions, while the visitors will hope their experienced new signings can inspire an upset.

Aduana’s strong defense will have to contend with the likes of Abednego Tetteh and Kwadwo Obeng Junior, both of whom have the ability to change the course of the game. Meanwhile, Heart of Lions will need to find a way to stop Aduana’s well-drilled attack, especially with the home team riding high on pre-season momentum.
