Samartex 1996 head coach Nurudeen Amadu described the 0-0 draw with Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium as a fair result but expressed disappointment over his team’s inability to convert their chances.
This fixture marked Samartex’s first game of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, as they aim to defend the title they won last season. Despite Dreams FC being reduced to ten men after Collins Buah received a second yellow card in the 70th minute, Samartex couldn’t break the deadlock.
Amadu acknowledged the challenge of turning a numerical advantage into a win. “Numerical advantage does not mean that you win the game. I will say that it’s a fair reflection,” he remarked. “We should have done better as a team in terms of our attacking play and utilizing our chances.”
Reflecting on his team’s performance, he noted that while they created more opportunities, their finishing was lacking. “I think we did have some decent chances, more than them, but our finishing was poor, so that is what we need to be working on.”
As the reigning champions, Samartex will now shift their focus to the CAF Champions League. They are set to face Morocco’s Raja Casablanca in the second round at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 15.
