Medeama SC continued their perfect start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season with a vital 1-0 away win against Legon Cities FC, thanks to Kamaridini Mamudu’s first-half strike at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
After beginning their campaign with a victory over Accra Lions in Tarkwa, Medeama entered the capital full of confidence. Hosting its first-ever Premier League match, the UG stadium welcomed a modest crowd from both sides for this historic fixture.
The match started in a scrappy fashion, but Medeama found the breakthrough midway through the first half when Kamaridini Mamudu capitalized on a deflected header from Emmanuel Cudjoe to put the visitors ahead. Despite a few chances for Legon Cities just before halftime, Medeama’s defense stood firm.
In the second half, Legon Cities made attacking changes, including the introduction of Chelsea trialist Fatawu Ganiwu, as they searched for an equalizer. However, Medeama’s goalkeeper and captain Appiah Kubi made a crucial save on the hour mark to keep his side ahead.
The Yellow and Mauve held on under pressure to secure all three points on the road, maintaining their 100% start to the season.
