1. Phobia’s problems persist

Accra Hearts of Oak at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium drew goalless against the struggling Aduana. The Ogya Boys from Dormaa-Ahenkro were slightly on top of possession until Rich Sackey’s red in the 57th minute. Phobia looked the same way even with a numerical advantage on Friday night. Nothing shows their problems are stopping soon. After more than 30 minutes of action, Phobia failed to dominate, attack and create many chances although Salim Adams could have done better with his effort in the second half. Hearts of Oak’s problems have existed for nearly 20 months and a lot will be required to end it.

2. Dun’s Park is Bibiani Gold Stars Heaven

Bibiani Gold Stars are enjoying life under Frimpong Manso. Spanning from last season,  Gold Stars have won 12 out of their last 13 home games since Micheal Osei was replaced permanently by Frimpong Manso. The winning momentum is all down to the mentality they have at Dun’s Park. That place is simply their Heaven. In Week 5 of the GPL, Bibiani Gold Stars via Micheal Nkoah’s first half strike defeated Bechem United 1-0 to move to second place on the log with 11 points the same as leaders, Asante Kotoko. Bibiani Gold Stars have won 3 (all at home) and drawn 2 so far in the season. Title challenge is out of the conversation now but travelling teams must watch out for Gold Stars in Bibiani.

3. Prosper Narteh Ogum’s Fabulous are so tough

Asante Kotoko had 17 goal attempts with 4 shot on goal compared to Accra Lions’ 5 goal attempt with 2 shots on goal at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on Sunday. This is how far Prosper Ogum has brought them to. Goal scoring is a major problem now for Fabulous per the attempts they have been enjoying in games recently. Albert Amoah’s 49th minute goal was enough for the Porcupine Warriors to break down Ibrahim Tanko’s stubborn side. Accra Lions won 3-2 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi last season and the prospect of revenging motivated Kotoko ahead of the game. Asante Kotoko looks so solid at the moment because teams have dared to break them down but they have remained resoulte. A tougher attitude is what Prosper Narteh and his guys need to challenge the challengers for the title. Asante Kotoko has suddenly become a tough opponent for their opponents.

4. Aduana Stars are still winless

Last Season at this stage, Aduana Stars had 6 points from 5 games. The Ogya Boys defeated Berekum Chelsea and Medeama at home with great performances. The Week 5 of 2024-25 season is done with the Dormaa-Ahenkro club still winless. It is quiet surprising looking at the pedigree of the club. Yaw Joachim Acheampong will take consolation from the fact that they were able to play with Hearts of Oak on Friday night at the University of Ghana with ten men and looked well organised. Aduana is in the relegation zone and Week 6s home tie against Dreams FC is a must win game.

5. Karim Zito is suffering from losing attacking trio

Veteran striker John Antwi, youngster Abdul Aziz and the fantastic Agyenim Boateng Mensah were the best attacking trio in the CAF Confederation Cup last season as they steered the Still Believe to the semi-finals of the competition. The experienced coach, Karim Zito worked magic and got the best out of them. They have all left the club and it has affected Dreams FC clearly. Nations FC defeated them 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. Dreams FC are now struggling to find a way to create chances and score goals. It is very clear that the departure of the talented forwards are killing Dreams FC now. Just 3 points won from the available 15 is very poor for the 2023-24 CAF Confederation Cup semi-finalists.
