On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo spoke to the media at the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of Ghana’s must-win doubleheader against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The first leg will take place in Accra after CAF banned Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium due to its poor pitch conditions. Addo expressed his relief at the venue change, saying, “I don’t know what has been done. It’s difficult for me to talk about things I can’t influence. I’m happy that we can play this match here. The national team hasn’t played here for a long time, and we are happy to be here.”
Ghana will host Sudan on Thursday, October 10, with the reverse fixture set for Benina, Libya, on October 15. The matches, originally scheduled for October 11 and 14, were adjusted due to logistical challenges.
With only one point from two games in Group F, the Black Stars are in desperate need of victories to revive their AFCON qualification hopes for the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
