Accra Lions FC will be looking to bounce back from their recent 1-0 defeat against Asante Kotoko as they host Berekum Chelsea on matchday 6 of the Ghana Premier League on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
The game will take place at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra, with kickoff scheduled for 15:00 GMT (3:00 PM local time).
Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side, currently 14th on the table, will be eager to regain the points lost in Obuasi and put an end to their recent struggles. The team has so far scored four goals and conceded six across their first five games. Berekum Chelsea, meanwhile, are in better form, sitting 5th in the standings after securing two wins and three draws (W2, D3) in their opening fixtures. They enter the match on the back of a 1-0 victory over Young Apostles FC last weekend.
Saturday’s match promises to be a tactical battle as Tanko faces off against Samuel Boadu, the head coach of Berekum Chelsea. Chelsea have shown strong defensive form, conceding just one goal in the league so far.
Accra Lions have a solid home record against Berekum Chelsea, winning all three of their encounters at home since the 2020/21 season. They secured a 2-0 win in 2021/22, followed by a 2-1 victory in 2022/23, and a commanding 5-0 triumph in the 2023/24 season.
Berekum Chelsea will aim to continue their impressive start to the campaign and secure back-to-back wins, while Accra Lions are determined to regain momentum and climb up the table.
