Medeama defender Kamaradini Mamudu made his long-awaited Black Stars debut on Monday during Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Niger in their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Mamudu, who replaced Terry Yegbe in the 79th minute, was brought on to strengthen the defense as Ghana aimed to salvage a result. Despite the disappointing outcome, the 22-year-old’s debut marked a significant milestone in his career, having been one of the standout defenders in the Ghana Premier League.
Though his time on the field was brief, Mamudu’s inclusion highlighted his potential and growth within the national team setup. Alongside other debutants such as Yegbe and Nathaniel Adjei, Mamudu’s performance provided a glimpse of hope for the future of Ghanaian football.
The loss confirmed Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, further intensifying the pressure on head coach Otto Addo and the Ghana Football Association.
