Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has attributed his team’s narrow 1-0 victory over Aduana Stars to their mental fortitude, self-belief, and determination, rather than tactical adjustments.
The Porcupine Warriors secured the win at the notoriously challenging Nana Agyemang Badu II Park on Sunday, ending a four-game winless streak in the Ghana Premier League.
Speaking after the match, Ogum emphasized that his side’s composure and resilience in a high-pressure environment were the decisive factors.
“It’s about self-confidence; it’s about determination,” Ogum stated. “Playing in Dormaa has nothing to do with tactics. It’s about the confidence of the team, the determination, the aggression, and, most importantly, the calmness of the team.”
Ogum also highlighted the importance of maintaining composure in an aggressive atmosphere like Dormaa, noting that matching the venue’s intensity could have worked against his players.
“If you look at the way we played, we were very calm. Dormaa is an aggressive venue, and if you come in aggressively, it wouldn’t help,” he explained.
The crucial win provided a much-needed morale boost for Kotoko, who will now aim to build momentum for the rest of the season as they look to climb the league table.
With renewed confidence and focus, Ogum and his squad hope this result will mark the turning point in their campaign.
