Nurudeen Amadu has revealed that a lack of motivation was the main reason behind his resignation as head coach of FC Samartex.

The 54-year-old coach stepped down on Tuesday, December 17, following a challenging start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. Amadu had enjoyed a successful debut season with the club, leading them to win the 2023/24 Premier League title.

In an interview with MAX FM, Amadu shared that he had discussed his decision with FC Samartex president, Dr. Richard Diuah Nsenkyire, and expressed his gratitude for the support he received from him.

“He [Dr. Richard Duah Nsenkyire] is a very kind and generous person who is also very understanding,” Amadu said. “I met with him on Monday to discuss what he felt would help the team, and I was impressed by his approach. He has always been supportive, but he also tells me when I’m wrong.”

Amadu then clarified that his decision to leave stemmed from a lack of motivation within the club.

“If you are demotivated or not happy, you need to look elsewhere,” he explained. “Wherever you go, you have to do your best.”

Assistant coach Henry Wellington will temporarily take over the team’s coaching duties.

Following a 1-0 loss to Heart of Lions in Matchday 13, FC Samartex will aim to bounce back in Matchday 14 as they travel to face Bechem United at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park this weekend.
