Heart of Lions head coach, Bashir Hayford, has expressed his willingness to take on the role of coaching Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, should the opportunity arise.
The Black Stars have faced significant struggles recently, most notably failing to qualify for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The four-time African champions were unable to secure a win in the qualifiers, leading to widespread discussions about the future of head coach Otto Addo.
In an interview, Hayford was asked if he would be open to coaching the Black Stars. The veteran coach confidently affirmed his readiness for the challenge, emphasizing his belief in his abilities.
“Why do you ask? What does it take to coach the Black Stars? Everything shows I can do the job. So if you see competence in me, give it to me; if you don’t, then don’t,” Hayford responded during his appearance on Asempa FM.
Looking ahead, the Black Stars are set to face Chad in March 2025 as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
