Bibiani Gold Stars earned a determined 2-1 victory over Nsoatreman at Dun’s Park on Saturday, keeping them in second place in the league standings.

Determined to recover after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Karela United cost them the top spot, GoldStars started the match on the front foot. “We needed to bounce back, and the team showed great character,” said the coach after the game. Michael Nkoah broke the deadlock in the 45th minute, giving the home side a well-earned lead just before halftime.

In the second half, youngster Foster Agyei made a memorable debut by scoring GoldStars’ second goal. “It’s a dream start for me, and I’m happy to help the team,” Agyei said of his first league goal.

Nsoatreman kept fighting and managed to pull one back in added time, creating a nervy finish for the hosts. However, GoldStars held their ground to secure the win. “The boys showed resilience, and that’s what matters,” noted the team’s captain.

The result leaves GoldStars level on 27 points with leaders Heart of Lions, who remain ahead on goal difference. GoldStars now prepare for a crucial Christmas Eve clash against Asante Kotoko, while Nsoatreman will aim to regroup as they host Medeama in their next match.
