Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure victories and score goals even in the absence of top striker Albert Amoah, following their 2-1 win over Dreams FC in the Ghana Premier League at the Tuba Astro Turf.
Kotoko clinched their second consecutive win with first-half goals from Saaka Dauda (40th minute) and Baba Yahaya (43rd minute). Dreams FC pulled one back through Joseph Esso’s goal in the 57th minute, but it wasn’t enough to stop Kotoko from securing all three points.
The win came without the services of in-form striker Albert Amoah, who is currently on national duty with the Black Galaxies. Amoah has been a key player for Kotoko, scoring seven goals in 12 matches, and will feature in the first leg of the CHAN qualifier against Nigeria on Sunday, December 22, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In a post-match interview, Ogum praised his team’s resilience and ability to maintain their structure despite Amoah’s absence. “We made them understand that Albert is a very good player, and we know he’s been scoring the goals. But in his absence, we can still score, and indeed, we’ve been able to score. I am happy for the players,” Ogum said.
