Ghanaian winger Isaac Atanga has completed a move to Swedish Superettan side Kalmar FF on a two-year deal from Norwegian second-tier club Aalesunds FK, the club has announced.

The former FC Nordsjaelland wide player joins Kalmar FF as they prepare for the 2024/25 Swedish football season, following a challenging spell at Aalesunds FK in the current Norwegian First Division campaign.

An official statement from Kalmar FF confirmed the signing:
“Kalmar FF has agreed with Ålesund on a transfer for striker Isaac Atanga, who has today signed a 2-year contract with the club.”

Speaking about his move, Atanga expressed excitement over joining Kalmar FF and the project ahead. He stated:
“It feels really good to come to Kalmar FF. The ambitions and goals of the club attracted me to come here. After talking to the sports director and the coach, it felt like a very exciting venture and a game idea that suits my way of playing football. I hope we can do good things together, and I will do my best to help the team get back to Allsvenskan.”

Kalmar FF’s sporting director, Peter Swärdh, praised the 23-year-old’s potential and style of play, saying:
“Isaac has a background in FC Nordsjälland, where he made his debut as a 19-year-old. He impressed with his speed and attacking style of play. At Kalmar, he will be a player who operates from the wing and creates problems for opponents both with and without the ball. We welcome Isaac to Kalmar FF and look forward to being part of his development over the next two years.”

Before leaving Aalesunds FK, Atanga made five league appearances this season in the Norwegian First Division.

Despite his impressive club performances, Atanga is yet to receive a senior national team call-up for Ghana’s Black Stars.
