Hearts of Oak have strongly condemned the violent scenes that unfolded during the Ghana Premier League clash between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko at Nsoatre Park, which resulted in the tragic death of a Kotoko supporter.
In an official statement, the club expressed deep concern over the incident, emphasizing that such acts of hooliganism undermine the core values of football—unity and entertainment. Hearts of Oak reaffirmed the importance of preserving the sport’s integrity and championing the #BringBackTheLove campaign to reignite passion and discipline in Ghanaian football.
“As committed advocates against any actions that dishonor our sport, Accra Hearts of Oak extends our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, affectionately known as ‘Pooley.’ His contributions and passion for the game will be remembered by everyone within the football community,” the club stated.
The club urged all stakeholders, including the Ghana Football Association (GFA), to take firm action in tackling hooliganism, stressing the importance of education and awareness in preventing future incidents.
Meanwhile, the GFA has responded decisively by charging both clubs and imposing a ban on Nsoatreman FC from hosting matches. Additionally, the Association has suspended the Ghana Premier League and scheduled an emergency meeting with clubs and supporters’ groups to address fan violence and enhance security measures at stadiums.
