Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah played a key role in Olympique Lyon’s dominant 4-1 victory over Montpellier in their French Ligue 1 clash on Sunday.
Nuamah, who started the match and played the full 90 minutes, was instrumental in Lyon’s impressive away win at the Stade de la Mosson-Mondial 98, contributing both a goal and an assist.
Lyon wasted no time in making an impact, as Georgian forward Georges Mikautadze opened the scoring just three minutes into the game after receiving a precise assist from Rayan Cherki.
Montpellier, however, responded in the 38th minute, with Tanguy Coulibaly finding the back of the net to level the score at 1-1 by halftime.
After the break, it was Nuamah who led Lyon’s charge, playing a decisive role in a three-minute blitz that put the visitors in firm control.
The former FC Nordsjaelland star restored Lyon’s lead five minutes into the second half, before turning provider, setting up Corentin Tolisso for Lyon’s third goal.
Veteran striker Alexandre Lacazette then sealed the emphatic win in the 73rd minute, securing all three points for Lyon.
The 21-year-old Ghanaian has now scored two goals in 16 Ligue 1 appearances this season. Across all competitions, he has three goals and one assist in 24 matches.
With this latest performance, Nuamah continues to establish himself as a key player for Lyon as they push for a strong finish in the French top flight.
