Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Osman and his club, Feyenoord, have secured a place in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 after edging past AC Milan in their playoff clash.
The former FC Nordsjaelland star was an unused substitute as Feyenoord battled AC Milan to a 1-1 draw at San Siro on Tuesday evening. However, his side’s narrow victory in the first leg gave them the advantage going into the return fixture.
Determined to overturn the deficit, Santiago Gimenez wasted no time in putting Milan ahead, scoring just one minute into the match. This early strike gave the home side a crucial halftime lead.
Milan’s hopes of a comeback suffered a major blow when French international Theo Hernández was shown a second yellow card, reducing the Italian giants to 10 men. Feyenoord took full advantage of the situation and found an equalizer in the 73rd minute, thanks to Julian Carranza. With no further goals, the match ended 1-1, allowing Feyenoord to progress with a 2-1 aggregate victory.
Although Osman did not feature in the second leg, he played a key role in the first leg in the Netherlands, helping his team gain the crucial advantage that ultimately secured their qualification.
The 20-year-old Black Stars winger has been a notable presence in Feyenoord’s Champions League campaign, making six appearances so far. Across all competitions this season, he has featured in 23 matches, registering three goals and two assists.
Currently on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, Osman is expected to return to his parent club at the end of the season. However, with his impressive performances, his future remains one to watch as Feyenoord continues their European adventure.
