Hearts of Oak midfielder Abdul-Aziz Nurudeen has made a long-awaited return to action after nearly two years on the sidelines due to a persistent thigh injury.
The 26-year-old, once regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Ghana Premier League, has struggled with injuries since joining the Phobians from Vision FC. He missed the entire first half of the 2024/25 season but is now set to bolster Hearts of Oak’s midfield as they push for the league title.
Nurudeen had not played for the Phobians since May 2022, following a serious thigh injury that required surgery in South Africa in October 2022. After an extensive rehabilitation process, he resumed full training last month and has now made his long-awaited return to the pitch.
On Friday, the former Black Meteors midfielder featured in a friendly match against Ghana’s U20 side (Black Satellites) at the University of Ghana Stadium, coming off the bench to help Hearts of Oak secure a goalless draw. His presence immediately made an impact, signaling his readiness to reintegrate into the squad.
Before his injury, Nurudeen was a key figure in Hearts of Oak’s midfield, playing a crucial role in their 2022 President’s Cup and FA Cup triumphs. With his tenacity and experience, he is now expected to play a pivotal role for the Phobians in the second half of the season as they chase league glory.
