Dreams FC claimed a crucial 2-1 victory over Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon in a rescheduled Ghana Premier League Round 20 fixture.
The win provided a significant morale boost for Dreams, who had been battling to stay clear of the relegation zone, while Lions missed an opportunity to solidify their place in the top half of the table.
The visitors struck first in the 17th minute when Joseph Esso calmly converted a penalty, giving Dreams an early advantage. However, Heart of Lions responded swiftly, equalizing in the 25th minute through Nana Kwame Oppong, who finished brilliantly to restore parity. The first half ended 1-1, with both sides displaying moments of quality.
The second half was a tense and evenly contested affair, but Dreams FC found the breakthrough in the 76th minute. Kofi Marshah delivered a decisive goal, putting the visitors back in front and securing all three points.
Despite Lions’ efforts to mount a comeback, they were unable to break through Dreams’ resilient defense. The defeat was a rare setback for Lions at home, marking only their second loss in 23 matches at the Kpando Sports Stadium.
While the loss could dent their title ambitions, Dreams FC will take confidence from this result as they continue their fight to avoid relegation.
