Bechem United claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak at the Nana Gyeabour Park on Wednesday, handing the Phobians their second consecutive defeat in the Ghana Premier League.
Kofi Tompuo delivered the decisive moment in the 52nd minute, finishing off a well-crafted move to secure all three points for the home side.
Despite enjoying spells of possession, Hearts of Oak struggled to break down Bechem United’s disciplined defense. Coming off a disappointing home loss to Dreams FC last Saturday, the Phobians were eager to respond but found it difficult to create clear scoring opportunities.
The first half was a tense battle for control, with both teams canceling each other out and chances at a premium. However, Bechem United came out stronger after the break, and Tompuo’s well-taken goal gave them the advantage.
Hearts of Oak pushed for an equalizer but lacked sharpness in the final third.
With this victory, Bechem United climb into the top four and strengthen their title ambitions.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak slip further down the table, now four points behind the league leaders, making their upcoming fixtures crucial in their bid to stay in the title race.
