Former Ghana captains Asamoah Gyan and Stephen Appiah are part of the Black Stars’ traveling contingent for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Madagascar.

The team arrived in Morocco on Saturday ahead of the match, which is set for Monday, March 24, 2025. Ghana departed Accra at 10:30 GMT and landed at Acharif Al Idrissi Airport in Al Hoceima at 16:16 GMT. All 23 players made the trip in good condition as preparations continue for the decisive Group I encounter.

The Black Stars head into the match with strong momentum following their emphatic victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night. The delegation was led by Black Stars Management Committee Chairman Dr. Randy Abbey and Vice Chairman Stephen Appiah, with Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan also accompanying the squad.

A win on Monday will be crucial for Otto Addo’s side, boosting Ghana’s chances of securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup. However, Madagascar, trailing Ghana by just two points in the Group I standings, will be eager to claim all three points and reclaim the top position.
