Ghana continued their impressive run in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a commanding 3-0 victory over Madagascar at Le Grand Stade d’Al Hoceima in Morocco on Monday evening.
The Black Stars delivered a dominant team performance to secure their fourth consecutive win, moving to the top of Group I with 15 points.
Head coach Otto Addo made two changes from the side that thrashed Chad 5-0, bringing in Jerome Opoku and Abu Francis in a 3-5-2 formation, while Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare took his place between the posts.
Ghana wasted no time asserting control and were rewarded in the 11th minute when Thomas Partey rose highest to head home Jordan Ayew’s precise free-kick, giving the Black Stars an early lead.
They nearly doubled their advantage soon after, but Mohammed Kudus saw his close-range effort brilliantly saved by Madagascar goalkeeper Geordan Dupire.
Despite their efforts, Madagascar struggled to create clear chances as Ghana dictated the tempo.
Partey struck again in the 54th minute, heading in another Ayew corner to make it 2-0. The Black Stars kept pushing, and Kudus sealed the win with a composed finish after a well-timed pass from Ayew.
Madagascar had no response to Ghana’s dominance, as the West Africans comfortably saw out the match.
The victory solidifies Ghana’s position at the top of Group I as they edge closer to World Cup qualification.
