The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has fined Elmina Sharks president Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom GHS10,000 and handed him a suspended three-month ban for misconduct during his club’s Division One League match against Swedru All Blacks United FC.
The committee’s findings revealed that Dr. Nduom interfered with the game, incited players against match officials, and made social media comments that encouraged hostility toward referees. He was observed entering the technical area without authorization and gesturing aggressively toward match officials following a controversial decision against his team.
Additionally, his post-match remarks on social media were deemed inflammatory, escalating tensions among fans and players. The Disciplinary Committee has warned that any future misconduct will result in harsher penalties, including a possible stadium ban.
Elmina Sharks FC has also been fined GHS20,000 and ordered to play the remainder of their home matches behind closed doors. The club has been directed to educate its management and staff on respecting match officials and upholding the integrity of the game.
Dr. Nduom has seven days to appeal the decision. The GFA’s swift action reinforces its stance on discipline and respect for officials, sending a clear message that misconduct will not be tolerated in Ghanaian football.
