Ghanaian youngster Clinton Duodu showcased his talent once again with a spectacular goal on Saturday, March 29, securing a crucial point for Apollon in their Cypriot First Division clash against APOEL.
The former Bechem United starlet was named in the starting lineup for the Week 28 encounter, playing an attacking role for his side. Right from the outset, he made his presence felt. Just four minutes into the game, Duodu expertly timed his run behind the APOEL defense, latched onto a well-placed long pass, and skillfully lobbed the onrushing goalkeeper to find the back of the net.
His early equalizer energized Apollon, allowing them to control proceedings and dictate the pace of the first half. Despite their dominance, the team missed a golden opportunity to take the lead when Quentin Boisgard squandered a penalty in the 38th minute, failing to convert from 12 yards.
After the break, APOEL regrouped and mounted a strong comeback, pushing hard to avoid defeat. Their persistence paid off in the 56th minute when Marius Corbu found the net, leveling the score at 1-1 and ensuring the spoils were shared.
With his impressive goal on Saturday, Clinton Duodu has now registered two goals and three assists in 13 appearances this season in the Cypriot First Division, further cementing his growing reputation in European football.
