Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has expressed great joy over the contract extension of his goalkeeper and captain, Benjamin Asare.
The 32-year-old shot-stopper recently signed a new two-year deal with the Ghanaian giants after a series of impressive performances for both club and country. Asare, who recently made his debut for the Black Stars, attracted interest from several foreign clubs, prompting Hearts of Oak to secure his services with an improved contract.
Speaking about the extension, coach Ouattara shared his excitement over the decision to keep Asare at the club.
“I’m very happy Benjamin Asare is staying with us for two more seasons. To stabilize the goalkeeping department, we need a goalkeeper who is discipline. We need him,” he said.
Asare has been in excellent form this season. In the Ghana Premier League, he has recorded 13 clean sheets in just 20 matches, conceding only eight goals. His consistency and leadership have made him a vital part of the team.
He also made headlines last month after a stunning debut for the Black Stars, keeping clean sheets in consecutive World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. His strong performances earned him the starting spot for Ghana, ahead of regulars Lawrence Ati Zigi and Jojo Wollacott.
With his future now secured, Hearts of Oak will be hoping Asare continues to deliver top performances as they push for success in the ongoing campaign.
