Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has committed his future to Accra Hearts of Oak by signing a new two-year contract with the club. This extension means Asare, whose original deal was set to expire in 2026, will now stay with the Phobians until 2027.

The experienced goalkeeper and captain of the side agreed to the new deal after productive talks with the club’s top officials, which included an improvement in his terms of service.

Confirming the news, Hearts of Oak stated: “The Board and Management of Accra Hearts of Oak are happy to announce that Black Stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare has extended his contract with Ghana’s biggest Club.”

Before putting pen to paper, Asare was reportedly attracting interest from North African heavyweights Raja Casablanca and CR Belouizdad, who had made initial contact with his representatives. Despite the interest, the former Accra Great Olympics star has decided to remain loyal to Hearts of Oak.

The 32-year-old has been in sensational form recently, especially after a standout debut for the Black Stars. He kept clean sheets in back-to-back FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, performances that earned him the spot as Ghana’s new first-choice goalkeeper, ahead of Lawrence Ati Zigi and Jojo Wollacott.

In the ongoing Ghana Premier League season, Asare has been a rock at the back, keeping 13 clean sheets in just 20 matches and conceding only eight goals — underlining his status as one of the league’s top performers.
