Coach Karim Zito has been described as a “game changer” by former Kotoko management member George Kennedy, who believes the experienced trainer has what it takes to turn the club’s season around.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, Kennedy shared his confidence in Zito’s ability to lead Kotoko to a strong finish in the league. With six games left in the season, he believes everything is still possible.
“Looking at Coach Zito’s credentials, I believe he can achieve it. I believe it’s not over. There are six matches remaining, and winning all of them will give us 18 points, which makes a big difference, so I don’t think it’s over yet,” Kennedy said.
He highlighted Zito’s track record, including guiding Dreams FC to qualify for continental football, as proof of his ability.
“Zito is a game changer, as far as I know, and with his international experience and securing qualification for Dreams FC to play in Africa, I believe he can accomplish it. He merely needs help and logistics to improve his performance,” he added.
Kennedy also stressed that closing the gap at the top of the table is possible with the right mindset and teamwork.
“For him (Zito), winning the league is doable. Six points is only two matches. If Gold Stars lose and we (Kotoko) win, we will catch up to them.”
He called on the players to support the new coach by staying focused and committed.
“We are only praying that the players will work together, forget about the current situation, stay injury-free, and reset their minds that there is a new coach. There should be a new attitude toward whatever we’re going to undertake, and with that, we can accomplish the task.”
With renewed belief and a fresh approach, Kotoko fans will hope that Zito can lead the team to a strong finish.
