Arsenal renew ‘fresh interest’ in Mohammed Kudus amid summer plans to bolster attack

Arsenal are expected to bolster their attacking options in the upcoming summer transfer window, following a challenging season plagued by injuries to key players including Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus.

The Gunners are now said to have rekindled their interest in West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus.

Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax in 2023, has been a long-standing target for Arsenal. Reports from Football Insider in November 2024 confirmed that the club had been actively monitoring the Ghanaian international, and recent developments suggest that interest has not waned.

According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, Arsenal are showing “fresh interest” in the 24-year-old ahead of the summer window. Crook also reported that West Ham could be open to a sale, especially if a club meets Kudus’ £90 million release clause—an option the Hammers may consider to remain compliant with profit and sustainability regulations.

Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson previously hinted that West Ham might entertain such a sale to balance their finances.

Despite Kudus’ talent and versatility, it is reported that Arsenal are unlikely to trigger the release clause outright. Instead, the club is continuing to scout him closely, holding off on a final decision until they can further evaluate his consistency and fit within Mikel Arteta’s system.

Kudus has made 29 Premier League starts this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in what has been a difficult campaign for West Ham. Across all competitions, he has made 32 appearances, with a noticeable dip compared to his impressive tally of 18 goals and 10 assists in 48 matches the previous season with Ajax.

While his numbers have declined, Arsenal’s interest signals their belief in his long-term potential, particularly as they look to deepen their squad for a more competitive push in the 2025/26 season.
